Tips for Making the Best S’Mores Treats
To ensure your S’Mores Treats are a hit, here are a few tips and tricks:
Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh marshmallows and high-quality chocolate will make a noticeable difference in the taste and texture of your treats. Opt for dark chocolate with a high cocoa content for a rich, intense flavor.
Don’t Overheat the Marshmallows: When melting the marshmallows, keep the heat low and stir constantly to avoid burning. Overheating can cause the marshmallows to become too stiff and difficult to mix.
Layer Strategically: Layer the chocolate and peanut butter chips carefully to ensure that every bite is perfectly balanced.
Watch the Broiler: When toasting the mini marshmallows under the broiler, keep a close eye on them. They can go from golden brown to burnt very quickly. I always keep the oven door open when I use the broiler.
Cool Completely: Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting. This helps them set properly and makes for easier slicing.
Bringing It All Together
S’Mores Treats are more than just a dessert; they’re a celebration of flavors, memories, and the joy of sharing good food with the people you love. Whether you’re reminiscing about past summers or creating new traditions, these treats are sure to become a favorite.
S’Mores Treats are packed with layers of rich, dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter. The base is made from Golden Grahams cereal mixed with marshmallows and cookie butter and it’s topped with lightly toasted mini marshmallows. This recipe is a guaranteed hit!
Ingredients
UnitsScale
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
1/2cup cookie butter or nut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
5 cups (one bag) mini marshmallows
One box Golden Graham cereal
1cup total chocolate and peanut butter chips (use whatever ratio you desire)
flaky sea salt (for garnish)
Instructions
Grease an 8 x 8-inch pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper. In the video I used two shallow disposable pans.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and cookie/nut butter. Stir in the vanilla and a pinch of salt. Mix well and add 4 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows.
Keep stirring until the marshmallows are mostly melted (ok to still have some chunks) and the butter and cookie butter are mixed.
Fold in the Golden Grahams cereal and stir will making sure it’s fully coated.
Add a layer of the cereal mixture to your pan and press it down using a piece of parchment paper. Top it with a sprinkle of chocolate and peanut butter chips and repeat, adding cereal and then chips, until you reach the top of the pan.
Cover the mixture with the remaining 1/2 cup marshmallows and heat under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes until marshmallows start to lightly brown. Top with flaky sea salt.
