You’ve found it! You’re here! Here is a roundup of the products, books, movies, TV and podcasts I’m digging in 2023 including links and discount codes.

I’m a girl with a lot of opinions. I’m a high low shopper, I’m picky about products and I love finding a great deal. This space is where I’ll be compiling the Things I’m Digging 2023 – lists of my favorite products, books, movies, TV, podcasts and more. These are the things I get so excited about that I text my besties because I need them to know how great they are.

Make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter as I share these products there first.

December 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • You know I never leave the house without my emotional support water bottle, and after trying damn near every brand, this one from Owala is my current favorite. It’s spillproof, has both a straw option and a sippy option (without having to change lids), comes in a bunch of colors and costs less than $25. You need one.
  • Candle warmers are THE white elephant gift of 2023 and this one has a sleek modern design (and it’s only $27)
  • I now own this $14 belt in three different colorways. It’s a steal and looks way more luxe than it’s price.
  • Purses are getting smaller and smaller and I’m a girl who has to carry my glasses. I found this adorable $4 case that barely takes up any room in my bag. It even comes with a strap if I want to “hang my sunnies” on the outside. It’s a great stocking stuffer.
  • WATCHING: For anyone who cares, I won my $2 bet w/my husband for picking the winner of The Golden Bachelor. Too bad that Gerry is turning out to be less than truthful. American Symphony on Netflix is a must see. (Really, don’t miss it!) I’m also loving Lessons in Chemistry (Apple+), Naked Attraction (Max) and I can’t wait for the finale of the Amazing Race this week (I’m rooting for father sun duo Rob and Corey.)
  • LISTENING: After you watch American Symphony, listen to the Armchair Expert interview with Jon Batiste.

November 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • 8 Greens Lollipops – As you can see in this video, I had low expectations but these lollipops are pretty tasty and packed with vitamins.
  • I found these Coconut Almond Clusters at Costco but they’re also sold on Amazon. If you like coconut, you’ll like them and you can eat them as a snack or crumble them up and sprinkle them on yogurt (as they are similar to this granola.)
  • I used this neck support travel pillow during my looooong travel to Europe and home. It’s a good one if you’re a side sleeper.
  • Now that it’s getting dark so dang early, I bought a dog leash with a built in LED light.
  • READING: Just finished Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead. The kindle version is on sale for $2 and it’s a fun story.
  • WATCHING: We finished the latest season of The Morning Show and while I didn’t love the conclusion, I thought this season was very solid. And you know I’ll be tuning in for the finale of The Golden Bachelor tonight! (I think he’s gonna choose Theresa so we will see if I’m correct.) Also, if you haven’t seen the Taylor Swift Era’s Tour movie, it lives up to the hype.
  • LISTENING: For a thoughtful, thoroughly researched and nuanced perspective on the day’s news, I turn to Pantsuit Politics. Their coverage of the Israel vs Hamas war has been solid. I also really enjoyed listening to Conan’s interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

October 2023 Things I’m Digging 🎃

  • The Golden Bachelor. I’ve never been a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette tv series and I still have some real issues with premise, yet I’ve been completely sucked into watching these 60 – 75-year-old women fall for Gerry.
  • Love Is Blind – We haven’t watched the finale yet but Paul and I just filmed and shared our predictions.
  • I put the viral SneakERASERS to the test how they cleaned up white leather shoes and a colored leather purse. Check out the video review.
  • I finally filmed a video review of my under-the-desk walking pad/treadmill. Now that the weather is cooling off, I’m planning to work it into my daily routine. I love that it arrives fully assembled.
  • I just bought this neck support travel pillow for our upcoming overnight flight and I’ll be reporting back.
  • Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow – I’m not a video game player but I really liked this book about two college friends (often in love but never lovers) who become creative partners in a video game design business. It was a non-traditional love story that kept me engaged until the final page.

September 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • Essentials Eye Palette – Back by popular demand, this talc-free eyeshadow palette
  • Portable Powerbank Charger – Don’t leave home without this slim & handy portable power bank charger. The 10000mAh Li-ion high capacity battery comes with 3 built-in cords to charge your mobile phone, camera and/or tablet. It comes with padded carrying case but I like to just throw it in my purse or backpack.
  • Solar Lanterns – My favorite purchase of the summer was this 2-pack of solar lanterns. They charge in the sun and automatically turn on when it gets dark.

August 2023 Things I’m Digging 🔥

  • Mighty Plump Ceramide Water Cream – I can’t stop talking about this new lightweight moisturizer that’s like filler in a jar. Everyone who tries it loves it. It’s quickly landed in my list of top BeautyCounter must haves.
  • Mini Whisks – For less than $6, this set of two mini-whisks are my go to for making salad dressing and scrambling eggs.
  • Nesugar Clothes Steamer – This bestselling Amazon clothes steamer guarantees I’ll never iron again! Super lightweight portable steamer heats up in 15 seconds and provides 10 full minutes of steaming to get rid of pesky wrinkles. The head is adjustable and it comes with a travel bag and a wall mount bracket. YouTube review here.
  • Wellnut Farms Walnut Butter – I’ve tried peanut, cashew, almond and sunflower butter but this was my first time trying walnut butter. Check out my video review.

BOOK RECO’S

  • Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano – This was an enjoyable read with memorable characters but I didn’t like it as much as the author’s previous book, Dear Edward.
  • The Maid – I’m a sucker for a book with an oddball (often autistic) main character. This was a fun whodunit with an unforgettable narrator that kept me guessing until the end. This one is a good beach read.

SUMMER TV RECO’S 📺

  • Somebody Somewhere (Max) – If you haven’t started this series, this is your sign. It’s so good that I watched the first season by myself and then rewatched it w/my husband because I wanted him to catch up so we could watch season two together. It’s a 30-minute dramedy starring comedian, actor, singer, writer, and cabaret performer Bridgett Everett as a woman dealing with a midlife crisis following the death of her sister. The characters are flawed, and weird and totally unforgettable.
  • And Just Like That (Max)- I was a SITC fan from the olden days, and even though the reboot isn’t perfect, I still find it entertaining.
  • Swiping America (Max) – We watched this dating reality show because they filmed one of the episodes in Boulder, CO. It follows four single New Yorkers as they date their way across the USA.
  • Platonic (Apple+) – It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud and this series about this long-term, platonic adult friendship gave me lots of giggles.

MOVIES 🎥

  • Barbie – Totally entertaining and clever. It’s probably not what you’re expecting.
  • Oppenheimer – Interesting story but 3 hours is just too damn long for this old lady.
  • Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – I had high hopes and while some of the action scenes were amazing, making the enemy AI was confusing and totally muddled the plot.

July 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • All Bright Dark Spot Minimizer – Brand new product that visibly improves the appearance of darks spots and discoloration. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s definitely working. See before/after photos HERE
  • Combo Leather Garment & Duffel Bag – This bag has a really ingenious design that let’s you hang clothes (like a garment bag) and then fold it up and fill it (like a duffel). I used it on our recent trip the mountains and it’s perfect for a weekend trip. And it comes in a bunch of colors.

SUMMER TV RECO’S 📺

  • Season two of The Bear (Hulu) might be better than the first season. If you have ties to the restaurant biz (or love food) this is a must watch.
  •  We just finished the latest season of The Great (Hulu) and it took a dark turn.
  •  I’m finally watching the final season of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (Amazon) and I could not love it more. I love the flashback format they are using in this final season.
  • Never Have I Ever (Netflix) – One of my favorite shows to watch before bed when I need to wind down.
  • The Jury (Amazon Prime) has a very funny premise and gives off a similar vibe to The Office.
  • MerPeople (Netflix) – OMG I almost forgot this one and it’s a doozy. I love to discover a quirky subculture and this 4-part series about professional mermaids was a winner. Before you roll your eyes, watch the first episode and tell me what you think.

MOVIES 🎥  Just saw the new Indiana Jones movie as well as “You Hurt My Feelings” with Julia Louis Dreyfus. Both were good (but I wouldn’t call them great).

June 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • I’m beyond obsessed with my Ninja Creami – it turns nearly anything into a frozen treat (and yes, it’s completely different than a blender or a traditional ice cream maker.)
  • Our favorite bakery only sells whole loaves of unsliced bread so we needed a bread knife that didn’t tear up the loaf. I did a ton of research and landed on this one from Amazon (which is under $20.)
  • Cosx Advanced Snail Radiance Dual Essence. Yup, it’s made out of the trailings that snails leave. And it’s an amazing moisturizer and serum. Paul and I have both been using it for a couple of weeks and we wake up with glowy hydrated skin. Full review to come but it’s back in stock on Amazon and definitely worth trying (under $30).
  • Like a lot of you, I wrapped up watching Succession (HBO) over Memorial Day weekend and I’m now in withdrawal. I thought the final episode was perfect and I haven’t missed a show this much since Breaking Bad. If you haven’t watched the whole series, you’re in for a treat.
  • Also … Ted Lasso. The last few episodes gave me all the feels and there were so many fun throwbacks in the final episode.
  • If you haven’t seen AIR: A Story of Greatness, it’s on Amazon Prime and it was very entertaining.
  • Since I love Indian Matchmaker (Netflix), I recently watched Jewish Matchmaker (also on Netflix). I was hesitant about this series because I thought it was going to be very stereotypical and focus only on Orthodox Jews. But it actually had a ton of diversity and I loved the matchmaker Aleeza Ben Shalom.
  • READING: Sex Talks – Five Conversations That Will Transform Your Love Life. I discovered sex therapist Vanessa Marin on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast and I am diving into her bestselling book.

May 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • You MUST watch The Diplomat on Netflix. It’s an eight-episode political thriller with a Homeland/West Wing/Tehran vibe. I thought the cliffhanger ending was a bit implausible but the rest of the series was fantastic and I can’t wait for season two.
  • Also on Netflix, don’t miss John Mulaney’s new comedy special Baby J. We saw him perform at Red Rocks a year ago and he is brilliant.
  • It’s allergy season and I’ve found that having an air filter in the bedroom really helps. I just bought this BlueAir model for my Mom and we have the slightly larger model. It’s quiet, runs constantly (if needed) and you only have to change the filter every six months. I’m definitely waking up with less congestion.
  • The No-Recipe Recipes book from the NY Times is a cookbook that I find myself referring to often as I wrestle with ye olde “what in the hell are we having for dinner” conundrum. There are TONS of great ideas with ingredients you probably already have. It’s super practical and most of the recipes are easy and quick.
  • I’m late (very late) on this book reco, but if you haven’t read Lessons in Chemistry, it’s delightful!
  • I wasn’t sure if I’d be into Prince Harry’s book, Spare, but I loved it. If you liked watching The Crown, you’ll enjoy reading this book as it has all kinds of behind-the-scenes info on the royals. And I was surprised that Meghan doesn’t enter the picture until you’re 80% finished.
  • It’s finally warm enough to break out my outdoor pizza oven. We have the Ooni Koda 16 pizza oven and it is the BEST way to make professional quality pizza at home.

April 2023 Things I’m Digging

  1. Magnesium with Ashwaganda – As part of my ongoing quest for better sleep, I’ve been taking this magnesium supplement at bedtime for the past couple of months. It’s not a “sleeping pill” but it’s definitely helping me get more restful sleep (quantified by the stats I get from my Sleep Number bed.) Fun fact: My sleep scores are the ONLY place I can ever get better scores than my husband, but I’ll take the small victory. A bottle of 60 pills is $22 on Amazon so if you have sleep issues (and who doesn’t?) it’s worth trying. (My mom is making me tell you to check with your doctor before trying any new supplements.)
  2. Custom sweatshirt from Lingua Franca – I don’t even have this yet and I’m sharing it anyway! I’ve been following this company for eons and lusting after their gorgeous custom cashmere sweaters. So when they recently offered sweatshirts (at a much lower price point) I pounced! I will 100% be visiting their retail store the next time I’m in NYC!
  3. No Show Socks – Now that we’re all wearing dresses with sneakers, we need no show socks! I love the Lululemmon no show socks but at $12 a pair, I get VERY unhappy when they get lost in the wash. These dupes from Amazon are so much cheaper ($3/pair) and really stay in place. I’ll be ordering more.
  4. This Airfly bluetooth transmitter – It plugs into the jack on the airplane and let’s you use your wireless headphones (vs those terrible uncomfortable wired headphones they sell/give you). Check out the link for all of the other ways you can use it. It’s in my travel bag – permanently.

March 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • Loving two shows on Apple+. The first is Shrinking which chronicles the life of a therapist who recently lost his wife. It sounds like a downer but it’s actually very touching and funny. I’m also liking Dear Edward  (based on the Ann Patchett novel) about the sole survivor of a plane crash. Both shows touch on loss, love, resilience and what it means to be human.
  • I wanted to watch Poker Face when it launched on Hulu but now it’s on Peacock. I’m only one episode in, and I think it’s going to be good.
  • Don’t miss the new Chris Rock “Selective Outrage” comedy special on Netflix.
  • I just finished reading Dinner For One. It’s about an American woman who moves to Paris to marry a French man and then gets divorced and decides to stay. I love a memoir that also includes recipes!
  • Speaking of recipes, Smitten Kitchen Keepers is a GREAT cookbook.

February 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • The Academy Award nominations are out and we’re trying to watch all of the Best Picture nominees before the ceremony in March. We’ve watched five out of ten so far and I only made it 30 minutes into The Banshees of Inisherin before giving up. Have you seen it? Should I go back and watch the rest of it?
  • Glow in the F*cking Dark by Tara Schuster – This brand new book (coming out in Feb) is a follow up to the runaway hit “Buy Yourself the F*cking Lillies.” I was lucky to get an advance copy and it’s another winner. Tara’s shares honest and very practical lessons for healing your past and owning your future. All preorders will receive a complimentary workbook.
  • The Mindy Project is now on Netflix. We didn’t watch it when it originally aired and I’m loving the short, upbeat episodes. It’s the perfect “palate cleanser” show to watch before bed.
  • You’ve gotta watch Stutz on Netflix. Very good! Here’s a video I made about why I liked it.

January 2023 Things I’m Digging

  • got this gift from my hubby and this weekend I’m gonna take it on a trial run. I suspect there will be lots of treats coming soon.
  • Kaleidoscope on Netflix was my January obsession. If you haven’t seen it, this video will tell you what to expect and why it’s so unique.
  • The price of eggs is sky high but they’re still one of the cheapest sources of high-quality protein. I’ve had this Devilishly Good Egg Salad on repeat.
  • I love a good investigative journalist movie and She Said did not disappoint. It’s streaming on Peacock.
  • And if you’re not watching Abbott Elementary I don’t know what you’re waiting for. It’s comedy gold. I can’t get enough. It’s on ABC, Hulu and HBO Max.
