Fall is my second favorite F-word.  (My first favorite is food – get your mind out of the gutter!)  And now that it’s officially fall, it’s time to break out the pumpkin recipes. If you’re a pumpkin spice lover (and who isn’t?) you’re gonna LOVE this healthy Pumpkin Spice Smoothie recipe.

This quick and easy recipe uses the #Fab4smoothie formula of protein, fiber, fat and greens. If you’re not familiar with the Fab Four smoothie formula, you can learn more and see my other recipes HERE.

I keep a can of organic pumpkin in my pantry year round because when I want pumpkin spice, I want pumpkin spice (regardless of the season).  Adding half of a frozen banana makes the smoothie sweeter and creamier but if you don’t like bananas, you can substitute medjool dates.

This recipe uses Blender Bombs but if you don’t have them I’ve given you an alternative. Blender Bombs are pre-portioned nuggets that you can drop into your blender (along with fruit, greens and liquid) for a nutritional boost. They are plant-based, gluten-free and made with real food ingredients. They’re currently available only via mail order and will keep unrefrigerated for three weeks. This healthy, creamy & dreamy Pumpkin Spice Fab Four Smoothie will keep you full for hours. No sugar, gluten, preservatives or processed junk. So yummy!


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/3 cup organic unsweetened pumpkin
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder or collagen peptides – I like Vital Proteins and Primal Foods
  • 1/2 frozen banana or 1 medjool date
  • small handful of frozen greens
  • 11 1/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds, chia seeds or 1 Blender Bomb
  • 1 tablespoon MCT Oil or coconut oil
  • 12 teaspoons pumpkin spice seasoning (unsweetened)

Instructions

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and combine until smooth.

Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
