Description

Creamy, frosty and tart, Brazilian Lemonaid is actually made with limes and it’s a fantastic refreshment for a hot day. Drink it as a mocktail or add rum or tequila to turn it onto a cocktail. Once you try it, it’ll be your new favorite beverage.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 limes, washed and quartered (rind on)
  • 1/4 cup sugar or monkfruit sweetener
  • 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (or, for a dairy-free version, use 7 ounces sweetened condensed coconut milk)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 4 cups ice, plus more for serving

Instructions

  1. Add lime wedges, sugar or monkfruit and water to a blender. Blend for for 20 – 30 seconds.  You want to extract flavor from the limes, but not pulverize them, which can make the drink too bitter. Pieces of lime rind will still be visible.

  2. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher or bowl with a spout. Use the back of a spoon to push out as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
  3. Return the mixture (ice and all) to a blender and add the sweetened condensed milk. Blend for 10 – 15 seconds.

  4. Divide among tall, ice-filled glasses, garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.
