Description
Creamy, frosty and tart, Brazilian Lemonaid is actually made with limes and it’s a fantastic refreshment for a hot day. Drink it as a mocktail or add rum or tequila to turn it onto a cocktail. Once you try it, it’ll be your new favorite beverage.
Ingredients
- 4 limes, washed and quartered (rind on)
- 1/4 cup sugar or monkfruit sweetener
- 7 ounces sweetened condensed milk (or, for a dairy-free version, use 7 ounces sweetened condensed coconut milk)
- 4 cups cold water
- 4 cups ice, plus more for serving
Instructions
-
Add lime wedges, sugar or monkfruit and water to a blender. Blend for for 20 – 30 seconds. You want to extract flavor from the limes, but not pulverize them, which can make the drink too bitter. Pieces of lime rind will still be visible.
-
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher or bowl with a spout. Use the back of a spoon to push out as much liquid as possible; discard the solids.
-
Return the mixture (ice and all) to a blender and add the sweetened condensed milk. Blend for 10 – 15 seconds.
-
Divide among tall, ice-filled glasses, garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.
