I find the end of summer such a bittersweet time of year. And even more so this year because I had a really GREAT summer. Here’s a recap of a few of my favorite things:
- This summer we consolidated our many gym/fitness memberships and joined a brand new gym (about 8 miles from our house.) It’s a longer drive but it was such a good decision and it’s as close as I’m probably ever going to come to having a country club membership. It has an outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, every kind of fitness activity and workout class along with a full-service spa, restaurant, coffee shop and even a cold plunge (which I recently tried!)
- We spent a lovely long weekend in Kansas City with some of the Up With People cast mates I traveled with 42 years ago.
- We spent a week in the midwest (Ohio and PA) visiting our friends, grandkids and making the annual pilgrimage to rural PA for Paul’s family reunion.
- Like the rest of the country, I’ve been glued to the Olympics for the past two weeks. I’m so sad that it ended yesterday. I love all of the behind-the-scenes stories about the athletes (and their families) and I found myself in tears more than once. The displays of sportsmanship (between teammates and the other countries competitors) made me feel so hopeful about our youth.
- I’ve been working with a new apparel brand – C.Paravano. They make beautiful leather shoes and bags and you can save 25% on everything they sell when you use THIS LINK and discount code grownupdish. Here are the shoes and the purse I’m loving.
- Speaking of our youth, buckle in. The 2024 election just got a lot more interesting and I am 1000% here for it. My mental health has improved dramatically in the past thirty days.
Bidding summer a reluctant farewell,
