Instagram sensation Teri Turner of No Crumbs Left was a big inspiration to me when I was deciding to start Grownup Dish. She’s one of the few “grownup” food and lifestyle bloggers, and seeing her success convinced me that there was an untapped need for a slightly older audience (and that maybe “little old me” could help fill it).

Teri launched her first cookbook in June and it has become an immediate best seller. Yes, it’s full of amazing (and mostly healthy) recipes including lots of “magic elixers” that will help you elevate even the most simple meals. But, like all the best cookbooks, it’s about so much more than cooking. Teri’s always-positive voice permeates every page as she shares her love of cooking, her family and even her favorite quotes. She is in the midst of a 20-city book tour and I have tickets to see her in Denver next week.

Dead To Me (Netflix)

I recently binge watched this 10-episode series and I’m thrilled that it’s already been renewed for a second season. It’s a dark comedy that explores the weirdly funny sides of grief, loss and forgiveness. And it features a cast that includes TV veterans Christina Applegate and Ed Asner. Side note: I am obsessed with Linda Cardinelli’s hair in this series. She’s making me want to get bangs (again). Should I do it?
