I am always looking for ways to upgrade my kitchen without calling a contractor. I keep scrolling through fun and creative ways to make over a kitchen online. Many people can do all or part of these projects independently which is a big money saver.

One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to transform the appearance of a kitchen is upgraded hardware. This can include drawer pulls, hinges, and doorknobs. Since these items are inexpensive, they are a great way to try out a new style without committing to buying new kitchen cabinets or major appliances.
If you’re on a tight budget, you can use spray paint for metallic hardware like handles and hinges. When deciding to replace hardware, I look for styles that match each other and go with the overall style of the kitchen.
3. Add a Backsplash
A backsplash is my favorite fun and creative way to make over a kitchen. Whether going the DIY route or hiring a professional, it’s a project with a big impact. Backsplashes are available in many materials, such as glass tile, metal panels, and mosaic tile.
Once you’ve selected the material and obtained all the necessary tools, decide on the layout of your backsplash. First, measure the area carefully, and it helps to draw out a map of where each piece will go. This helps ensure you don’t end up with any awkward gaps between tiles or confusing patterns when it’s finished.
4. Add or Replace Light Fixtures
Don’t forget about the importance of lighting. Lighting affects the mood and feel of a room. Lighting is critical in a kitchen because it’s where I do so many things that require good vision, like preparing food and reading recipes. The best way to add lighting to a kitchen is to use a combination of recessed and pendant lights, which can provide both overhead and task lighting.
If your kitchen has lots of natural light, be sure to replace any heavy curtains with sheer curtains or blinds that allow sunlight and brighten up the space.
Projects like these can completely transform the kitchen, and they can have a significant impact on how you feel in your home.
