Let’s Talk About Buttermilk

First, let’s talk about buttermilk. Traditional buttermilk is the liquid that remains after butter is churned. Nowadays you can buy cultured buttermilk at any grocery store. And, despite the fact that there is “butter” in the name, buttermilk is low fat, low calorie, and extra flavorful. I love organic Kalona Buttermilk because they work with small family farms to make delicious cream-topped 2% cultured buttermilk from pasture-grazed cows.

Buttermilk is super versatile. Beyond making this Better Than Ranch Salad Dressing, it’s great for marinating meats, adding to pancake or waffle batter and delicious in a biscuit recipe.
