Over the past few months I’ve discovered that I have a problem with wheat. After eliminating it from my diet during my January Whole30 (and subsequent mini-resets) I’ve discovered that wheat is contributing to a number of ongoing digestive issues: heartburn, reflux, gas, slow digestion. I’ve been very, very reluctant to admit that that wheat is a problem even though I’ve done a LOT of food testing to narrow down the culprit. Giving up bread, pasta, and baked goods is NOT FUN. In the meantime, I’ve been trying to find the very best gluten-free products available. Gluten-free baked goods are very tricky and a lot of them are not tasty, but based on a recommendation from Tim Ferris in his 5-Bullet Friday newsletter, I’ve found a really good one: Tate’s Gluten-Free Cookies.
My review of the Ginger Zinger cookies is that they are a cross between a ginger snap and a butter cookies with pops of flavor from candied ginger. I’ve never had any other cookie that was quite like them.
If you’re not familiar with Tate’s Bake Shop, they began as a boutique bakery in The Hamptons. Tate’s is known for their addictive, buttery and super-crispy chocolate chip cookies. They used to only be available on the east coast, but now you can find them anywhere, including on Amazon. And now they’ve added gluten-free versions of several of their cookie recipes that are just as good (if not better) than their original recipes.
They also sell a Variety Pack which includes one each of Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip and Ginger Zinger.
So far, I’ve tried the Oatmeal Raisin, Ginger Zinger and Chocolate Chip and they were all awesome! I’m getting ready to try the double chocolate chip cookies next. They also sell brownies and blondies, but I’m trying to pace myself.
Also, these aren’t “health food” – they’re a treat. Here’s the nutrition information:
